A private session is often the best way to get started. This will allow you to get introduced to the equipment and identify individual needs and goals. These needs and goals can then help shape your next steps either continuing with privates or moving into one of the group sessions.
ABSOLUTELY!! The Pilates repertoire and apparatus was developed by a man and while dancers and women have gravitated towards it, the movement principles still apply to and benefit men. Sweat pants, joggers, shorts with a liner or lycra short underneath and a t-shirt all work well for sessions.
Comfortable clothing that you can move in (leggings welcome but not required!). Ideally, clothing without zipper, buttons, glitter so we can keep the equipment safe.
Booking for mat classes and those at Sakash Health and Wellness is currently via email or you can use the inquiry sheet on the website. I will confirm your spot and payment can be made with cash, check or VENMO. Booking for sessions at Scarborough Pilates can be started via email or can be made using the MindBody app.
If you need to change or cancel your booking please reach out 24 hours in advance. Bookings not rescheduled prior to this time will be subject to the full cost of the session. With a limited number of spots we want to make sure as many people have the opportunity to practice.
In general movement can often help tightness or discomfort so the answer is generally yes. In addition, especially in a private session many injuries can be worked around. A quick phone call or email can be helpful as well. Always use your best judgement and consult with your medical professional when appropriate.
